Maria João Gaspar
EXTERNAL CONSULTANT ON SUSTAINABILITY
Maria João Gaspar collaborates with AGRO.GES, as external consultant, in the design and implementation of sustainability projects.
He specializes in the areas of carbon, energy, life cycle analysis, supply chain sustainability and environmental accounting.
Until 2012, he was responsible for the Carbon Unit of E.Value – Ambiente e Economia, SA, where he led climate strategy projects, carbon footprint and emissions management for some of the largest Portuguese companies in the banking, industry, energy, events and tourism, among others. Also at E.Value, he coordinated the development of the CarbonoZero® brand, the first voluntary carbon market instrument in Portugal. From 1996 to 2004, he was a member of the Corporate Center of EDP – Energias de Portugal, SA, where he was responsible for the design and coordination of sustainability reports and the Group’s environmental accounting system. He also carried out various activities in the area of waste management . It also asserted the institutional representation of entities at national (BCSD Portugal) and international level (Eurelectric – Union of the Electricity Industry Waste Management Working Group) and consulted the Directorate General of Environment for the analysis of the environmental aspect of investment projects.
She is regularly invited to participate as a speaker at conferences organized by reference entities and, since 2010, she has been a guest lecturer in the PhD Program on Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies (Universidade Nova de Lisboa). Has experience in the development of internal training actions in organizations of different sectors.
She holds a degree in Applied Chemistry from the Faculty of Technology Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the same University, with a dissertation on Environmental Accounting in Companies. She is a registered consultant for Carbon Trust Footprint ExpertTM for the calculation of carbon footprint of products and Trainer with Certificate of Pedagogical Competencies.
